PRAYER
GUIDE
First
Wesleyan Church
December
2018
Thank you for
participating in prayer during this holiday season. Christmas is a great time to refocus our
thoughts on the precious gift of Jesus Christ, given to you and me. Use this guide incrementally or as a whole,
for devotions or a special time of prayer.
May God bless you and keep you.
Give
thanks to God for salvation and the spiritual blessings He brings into your
life every day. Take a moment to recite those blessings
to Him in your prayers. Pray that you will express gratitude to God in all
things by strengthening your commitment to Him and growing in your Christian
walk.
Give thanks to God for loved ones
in your life who have a relationship with Christ and are growing in the Lord.
Pray
for loved ones who don’t know or serve Christ, that they will embrace Him, as
well as for those who are struggling in their Christian faith.
Give thanks to God for good health in your life and
the lives of friends and loved ones.
Pray for healing and strength regarding physical needs
in your life as well as the lives of friends and loved ones.
Give thanks to God for the various ways He has met
your daily needs.
Pray
that God will continue to meet your needs no matter what the future holds.
Remember those in the Muskegon area who struggle every
day just to obtain the basics of life such as food and shelter. Ask God to give
you opportunities to help wherever possible.
Pray
for your church, pastor, and other spiritual leaders.
- · Ask God to bring unity around our role as a church in our neighborhood, community, and world. Pray that our spiritual leaders will receive anointing and wisdom, and that each ministry in the church will receive adequate funding and volunteer support.
- · Pray for the churches and ministries of Oakview and Sheldon Park Neighborhoods, that their Christmas services and outreaches will be effective in reaching the lost, ministering to believers, and helping those with practical, emotional, family, and spiritual needs during this holiday season.
- · Pray that the children and youth in our church ministries will grow in faith, stand firm for Christ through temptation and resistance, and grow as messengers of the gospel to friends and classmates.
- · Pray for our General Superintendent Dr. Wayne Schmidt and other leaders in The Wesleyan Church.
- · Pray for our District Superintendent Rev. Chris Conrad and other leaders of the Great Lakes Region.
- Pray for the widows/widowers of our church and community who may feel the pain of loss of their spouse during the holidays.
- Give thanks to God for opportunities to serve Him through the gifts, talents, and abilities He has given you.
- Pray that God will open new opportunities for ministry and service in your life, and challenge you to move beyond your own comfort zone and understanding.
Pray
for the marginalized of our community:
- · Pray for the homeless, those in poverty, and those residing in hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutions.
- · Pray for those in jails and prisons, that God’s indescribable gift of Christ would reach into their hearts.
- · Pray for the elderly and disabled of our community, especially those without the family support system they need.
Pray
Christians will stand strong for Christ no matter the challenges during the
holidays.
- Pray that Christians and unbelievers alike will focus on recognizing Christmas as the celebration of Christ coming into the world to save us and give us new life.
- Personally, commit to seeking the knowledge of God’s will, and the power of the Holy Spirit for fulfilling His purposes for your life.
- Pray for Christian brothers and sisters, especially the persecuted Church around the world, that He will grant protection and strength to those who suffer the most and even pay the ultimate price for the cause of Christ.
Pray for Christian brothers and sisters of the
persecuted Church around the world, that He will grant protection and strength
to them who suffer and face death for the cause of Christ.
Pray for Missionaries, that God will anoint them,
grant them wisdom, meet their needs, protect them, and give them strength
through the challenges of ministry in the year to come.
Thank you for taking time to pray for our church, community, and world.
